When I first got wind of Pitch Perfect I thought i was some sort of baseball movie. Of course after viewing the flick I knew different and I absolutely loved it. The mix of old and new was fantastic. Props to the studio for great casting, with the likes of Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Skylar Austin along with many excellent supporting actors.
Okay down to business, Pitch Perfect centers around Becca Mitchell (Anna Kendrick) who just enrolled in Barden University after heavy pressure from her father. Becca was reluctant to enroll because she had her sights set on becoming a music producer in L.A. which her father was not a fan of. Becca’s father makes her a deal, if she joins a school ran club, becomes truly involved and sticks with it for a year then still wants to leave, he will help her move and seek her dream. This led her to try out for the Acapella club The Bella’s. Becca is accepted and the real meat of the movie begins. Now that’s Pitch Perfect 1, I’m gonna talk about the sequel now and will avoid spoilers so don’t worry. 3 years after the events of the first movie, the Barden Bella’s are now led by Becca Mitchell and Chloe Beale (Brittany Snow). The Bella’s have become successful champions each of these three years. However, the Bella’s become involved in a national scandal, dubbed Muffgate, when a wardrobe malfunction causes Fat Amy’s (Rebel Wilson) pants to rip in front of former President Barack Obama, leading to the Bella’s suspension from the ICCAs. Becca makes a deal to allow the Bella’s to be reinstated should they win the World Championship of A-Capella. Meanwhile Freshman Emily Junk (Hailey Steinfeld) begins her college career, hoping to follow in her mother Katherine’s footsteps by being a Bella. The Bella’s learn that German A-Capella group, Das Sound Machine, have replaced the Bella’s on their victory tour. Additionally, Becca has started an internship at a recording studio. That is all I will say on the sequel to avoid spoilers.
Pitch Perfect 3-
Now down to what you’ve been waiting for news on Pitch Perfect 3. Most of the cast we’ve grown to love will be returning although sadly our favorite Treble Maker Skylar Austin will not be returning. A bit of good news though, Ruby Rose, Matt Lanter, Guy Burnet, and John Lithgow will make an appearance. Kay Cannon, who scripted the first two franchise entries, is working on the script for the third film. An Emmy-nominated writer and actress with a heavy improv background, Cannon is also known for her work on NBC‘s 30 Rock and FOX‘s New Girl. Elizabeth Banks will not serve as the Pitch Perfect 3 director, she’ll remain aboard the project as producer and, presumably, star. Also producing Pitch Perfect 3 are series fixtures Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment and Max Handelman of Brownstone Productions.
I’m excited for the 3rd entry in the Pitch Perfect series even though our favourite Trebble Skylar Austin won’t be returning. A few questions still linger, where is Benji, what happened between Benji and Emily after the worlds, and is there gonna be a 4th movie? I’ll let you know as soon as I know any more info, and remember, Sometimes Even The Mundane Can Be Extraordinary.
